Daughters of Botany

Daughters of Botany is a brand with a rich cultural heritage, born from the vision of its founder, Sotonye Odugbemi. Growing up in Nigeria, Sotonye was surrounded by powerful women in her family who instilled in her a deep appreciation for nature and its restorative properties. From her grandmother's vast knowledge of local plants, to her mother, who would always turn to natural remedies before anything else, Sotonye inherited a wealth of knowledge about the healing power of botanicals. It was this inheritance that sparked the idea for Daughters of Botany - a brand that would provide botanical solutions that promote wellness and happiness for all.

The brand's Nigerian heritage is celebrated through its visual identity; paying homage to both the brand’s origins and the power of botanical solutions to enrich the lives of individuals.

Drawn from the rich cultural heritage of its founder, Daughters of Botany's brand identity is deeply rooted in the relationship between people and nature. Inspired by the legacy of the powerful women in her Nigerian family, who believed in the healing properties of nature, the brand's visual identity captures the essence of this connection.

The organic shapes and forms used in the brand's design emulate the intricate patterns and designs found in traditional Nigerian fabrics, while the subtle variations in line weights serve to highlight the artisanal nature of each product and its restorative, perennial effects.

“Daughters of Botany is my heritage and it is my legacy. It exists because my grandmother was unafraid to wander into the forest in search of a cutting of some rare plant that she knew would make her garden a paradise for the children in her village...This is my legacy to my children.”
